According to a survey by Bitkom Research, user behavior and perceptions in Germany have changed significantly since Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter. More than a third (37%) of users now spend less time on the platform, and almost 20% have stopped posting their own posts altogether. Almost half of users (46%) believe that hate speech and disinformation have increased since the takeover.

Despite these challenges, 55% of users emphasize the value of Twitter/X as a source of news and information outside of the mainstream. These developments show that the platform remains an important source of information for some, while others are increasingly turning away from it.
