New Master's degree program in Information Systems - Information Management and Data Science (M.Sc.)

Heilbronn University is introducing the new Master's degree course "Business Informatics - Information Management and Data Science" with the academic degree Master of Science in the winter semester 2019/2020.

Course content

The course imparts management knowledge in combination with scientifically sound methods of business administration and business informatics. The interdisciplinary transfer of skills is based on four pillars

  • Information and IT management
  • Data science and data-driven products
  • Digital business models and leadership
  • Scientific and research methods

Information and IT management provides company data as a fundamental basis, which is analyzed using data science methods and converted into data-driven products. These data-driven products are positioned on the market as part of digital business models. Through the course, the skills taught are applied in case studies, project and research studies in practical and scientific applications.

Study focus

The degree program focuses on the four subject areas

  • Information provision and management
  • Data analysis and product development
  • Design and implementation of digital business models
  • Implementation of industrial and scientific projects

The application of scientific methods forms the basis of the focus areas.
Practical relevance, scientific relevance and topicality of the topics are a permanent focus during the three-semester Master's degree course. These topics are implemented through the development and application of independent ideas, independent work, teamwork in small groups, expert lectures, excursions and an optional semester abroad or a double degree at selected partner universities.

The Master's degree in Business Informatics creates the basis for potential future managers to take on responsibility in future-oriented, data-driven business areas. Furthermore, the course qualifies you to implement the development of data-driven products in consulting, commercial or industrial companies.
