On 13 March 2024, the Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (IPAI), an ambitious project for applied artificial intelligence in Europe, opened its doors for an exclusive expedition organized by connect.IT Heilbronn-Franken e.V.

The interest in IPAI is enormous. This was clearly demonstrated by the fact that places for the expedition were quickly sold out. This event offered participants a unique insight into future developments and the immense potential of the IPAI.

At the opening of the event, Moritz Gräter, Managing Director of the IPAI, welcomed the members and friends of connect.IT. Tim Roder, Head of Business Development, then took the stage and introduced the attendees to the subject matter in greater depth. He presented exciting insights into the current achievements of the IPAI and gave an outlook on future plans.

IPAI - status quo and vision

The IPAI is the center of a movement that aims to create an international and innovative ecosystem for AI. The aim is to develop synergies between AI stakeholders from business, science, start-ups and the public sector.

The IPAI is currently still located on several floors at "Im Zukunftspark 7". However, it will soon be moving into a completely new, impressive building in the Wohlgelegen Future Park, which is nearing completion (see following image).

The ultra-modern building is specially designed to meet the requirements of state-of-the-art research and application of AI. It not only serves as a research center, but also as a lively meeting place for the community, with rooms for events and exchange. The integrated assembly hall is a particular highlight. Here, industry-related applications - from automotive technology and mechanical engineering to robotics - can not only be discussed in theory, but also tested in practice. This innovative approach makes it possible to put concepts directly into practice and thus bridge the gap between theory and practice.

An open innovation forum on artificial intelligence will be created on the first floor. This area will be freely accessible to all visitors and serve as a central point of contact for information, exchange and networking on a broad social level. A combination of exhibition area and café will create a relaxed atmosphere that invites visitors to linger and engage in dialog about the latest developments and applications of artificial intelligence. This space is set to become the first important meeting place for science, business and society in the field of AI.

By 2026, a new type of district will be created on a 23-hectare site in the north of Heilbronn to promote synergies between business, science, start-ups and the public sector. The aim of the IPAI is not only to research and develop artificial intelligence, but also to use it in practice and integrate it sustainably into social and economic value creation.

A big thank you once again to Tim Roder and the entire IPAI team for the warm welcome, the exciting presentation and interesting insights. A subsequent discussion round offered the opportunity to ask more in-depth questions and gain further insights.

The evening ended with a networking event, which gave participants the chance to make new contacts and share their impressions.
